Greenland Airports and Naviair Sign Agreement on New Air Traffic Control Solution for Nuuk

Greenland Airports and Naviair have signed an agreement to establish a Terminal Control Area (TMA) with air traffic control services for Nuuk International Airport.

The new solution is expected to become operational by May 2026 and will remove the capacity restrictions introduced by the Danish Civil Aviation and Railway Authority in September.

The TMA solution will enable more efficient management of air traffic, as aircraft will be controlled by air traffic controllers within a designated airspace before being transferred to the Airport Flight Information Service (AFIS).

Jens Lauridsen, CEO of Greenland Airports, said:

The TMA will be established at Naviair's Flight Information Centre (FIC) in Nuuk, further strengthening Naviair's existing and vital role in providing safe and efficient air traffic services within Greenland's lower airspace.
